SM City Marilao recently received the 2009 Don Emilio Abello Outstanding Energy Efficiency Award from the Department of Energy.
The mall was recognized by DOE for its improved energy performance supported by significant energy efficiency and conservation programs.
SM City Marilao achieved 7.20% in Percent Energy Conservation (PECO) and was able to generate energy savings amounting to over Php 12M through various enercon measures implemented all throughout the mall.
SM engineering manager Engr. Teddy Mueca who handles SM Marilao along with other SM malls in the north region also received the Oustanding Energy Manager award.
Other SM malls who received the Outstanding Energy Efficiency Award were SM City Sucat, SM City Iloilo, SM City Clark, SM City San Lazaro, and SM City Bicutan.
THE Don Emilio Abello Energy Efficiency Awards are yearly accolades handed over by the DOE to a slew of industrial and commercial companies that reach a certain standard of energy use. It was named after the late Don Emilio Abello, the Father of the Energy Conservation Movement.
This year’s ceremony took place last December 3 at the New World Renaissance Hotel in Makati City. Out of this year’s 43 recipients, 10 awards were presented to various SM malls including a citation for SM Pampanga and SM Sta. Mesa and the Hall of Fame award for SM City North EDSA.
